Welcome to the PynchonWiki

"One has a stronger hand when there's more people playing your same cards." - G.W. Bush, Oct 11, 2006

The Mysterious Airship of 1896
This is the newly created Wiki for -- inaugurally -- Thomas Pynchon's Against the Day (pub date: 11/21/06), and eventually for the guides to Pynchon's other "big" novels, V., Gravity's Rainbow and Mason & Dixon, which are currently available at ThomasPynchon.com. Eventually, all the novels will be migrated here so that registered users of this wiki can create pages and make changes for those novels' guides.

You can read the beginnings of an annotation of the Against the Day blurb, written by Thomas Pynchon, which appeared, disappeared and reappeared at Amazon.com.

If you would like to be a contributor to this wiki, please register (by clicking on the "register" link on the top right).

Click here for help with editing and creating pages.

We have a few conventions we ask that you follow:

  • When creating a new page, if its information pertains to one (and only one) specific Pynchon novel (currently just Against the Day, please preface it with the identifier "ATD".
  • For example, Against the Day is divided into five sections, and we're starting a section-by-section annotation, so the first section is ATD The Light Over the Ranges.
  • If you'd like to start a foreign translations page for Against the Day, you'd use ATD - Translations.

I will be providing more support for using this wiki in the coming weeks. Feel free to contact me (tim at hyperarts dot com) with any questions.

Thanks, and enjoy...
